Recommended Installation Method on newer Machines

• Partition & Format your Hard Disk (128GB as absolute maximum for the partition)
• Copy Windows 98 CD directory (CD:\win98 folder only) to Drive:\WINCD
• Start setup with the following parameters:
  SETUP /IS /IM /ID /IQ /IR /NR /NM /IF /NF /D /P I
  The last one causes it to install in APM mode instead of ACPI, which prevents a LOT of problems on newer systems
• For machines with more than 512MB of memory:
  Before the first boot, start in MSDOS Mode and do "EDIT C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI"
  Under [386Enh], add these two lines
  MaxPhysPage=20000
  MaxFileCache=131072
  Reboot
• Enable DMA for all HDDs and Optical Drives in Device Manager
• Install Chipset Drivers and reboot
• Install all other drivers and reboot
• Install Maximus Decim's USB Driver (Will also enable you to use mass storage devices.. Yay :))
• Install Autopatcher for Windows 98 (Both versions, the 2007 first, then the 2008 upgrade). THEN run the Autopatcher.
• This will take a while, so grab some coffee.
• Install Unofficial Windows 98 Service Pack (ONLY select basic updates!)
• Install Windows 98 Revolution's Pack REQUIRED UPDATES
• Install Windows 98 Revolution's Pack 9.7
• Go have a wank about how awesome Windows 98 looks now :)
• Install KernelEx
• Optional: Buy & Install RLOEW's RAM Patch and remove the MaxPhysPage=20000 line ;)
• You're done!

Modern(-ish) NVidia Cards on Windows 98 SE

The Windows 98 Beta Driver below (82.69) has support for the 7xxx series of graphics cards, including PCI-Express x16 versions. If you have more than 256MB of video memory, you need to buy & install RLOEW's RAM Patch, else you'll get a windows protection error. 

Installation 

You need to install this driver over the device manager. Click on VGA Adapter, and reinstall driver. Then navigate to the INF file (NVAML.INF).

Java & OpenGL

If you start a Java application that uses OpenGL, you will get an exception error. You will need to replace C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NVOPENGL.DLL with the one from the old driver. Afterwards, you will have no problems. Play some Minecraft! :D
